smokematters Toolkit

What is the smokematters Toolkit Program?

The smokematters program promotes home health and safety during wildfire events by educating and engaging residents. It includes target public health messages designed to engage residents, giving them cues on how to protect themselves from health and safety hazards caused by wildfires. The toolkit includes a pre-assembled set of 9 different tools and videos to help to control and abate the particles and gases that infiltrate a home during wildfire smoke events and information on how to how to set up a Smoke-Safe room.

How does it work?

The kit is not intended to replace the evidence-based practices that are the national standard for outreach, including the “Asthma Home Visit” model, or the “Healthy Home Checklist”. Rather, the kit is intended to advance the efficacy of these practices, by moving residents along the continuum from education to empowerment, and from knowledge to action. Kits are used for outreach, as part of indoor air assessments and remediation, as part of asthma-home visit programs, and as community-based outreach tools.

How much do they cost?
